In 2012, a stressed college student and aspiring coder named Brian DiAntonio — better known today as Flork — needed an outlet. Buried in PHP, HTML, Java, and endless debugging sessions, he turned to doodling crude creatures in MS Paint and on paper: simple, chaotic, and gloriously stupid.
One of those very first experiments was a wild Pokémon-themed battle page full of hand-drawn blobs, wolf-like monsters, kiss marks, blood splatters, and absurd text like:
Years later, on November 29, 2017, Flork himself reposted this exact page on X with the now-legendary caption:
This single doodle page — raw, unrefined, and full of pure chaotic energy — is Florkish. It marks the spark. The moment Brian realized he didn't need polished art skills to create something funny. Just a willingness to draw something ridiculous.
That early "florkofcows-ish" experimentation proved the formula: crude + expressive + absurd = comedy gold.
Brian launches the official Flork of Cows WordPress blog with his first proper comic — a coder having terrible luck with programming. First official comic →
Sporadic crude doodles and experiments on the blog — still evolving the creature style seen in the Florkish Pokémon page.
Brian refines the doodle style into the now-iconic sock-puppet characters — simple rounded MS Paint socks that can stretch, squash, and emote in hilariously grotesque ways. Flork of Cows explodes on Facebook, Reddit, and X.
Flork rediscovers and posts the original 2012 Pokémon doodle page, officially naming it "the very first florkofcows-ish comic" — and Florkish is born as a concept.
What started as a personal stress-relief doodle became one of the most viral webcomic series on the internet — reaction images, memes, story arcs (Clark, Ung, Charlie, etc.), and eventually Socks Agency, the VTuber talent agency built on the same sock-puppet DNA.
Florkish is the true Genesis. The "ish" before the socks. The chaotic ancestor that proved the entire philosophy: "You don't need to be a good artist to make a good comic."
It's the humble, messy, blood-splattered Pokémon battle that grew into a cultural phenomenon. From one stressed college doodle to millions of laughs worldwide.
This is where Flork began. This is Florkish.
